Did you know that kitsch can be unfunny too?

Some things I just have to post. I really can't resit myself. Heat activated decorations have been around for a long time, but this one takes the cake. It transcends, even itself. It is that awesome.
I know that many of you hold ceramics in high esteem, as do I. But part of revering something, is to have a sense of humor about it. For that reason I always loved Kitsch, there is nothing too tacky, or silly or offensive for me to have a laugh at...until now. This is so awesome and so tacky, it makes me a little sad.

I do not mean to disparage anyone perfered form of Art. Infact, In grad school Scott Chamberlain made us read This Piece on Thomas Kinkade by Susan Orlean (Of The Orchid Thief fame) from the New Yorker. He was trying to get us to understand the notion of audience (and raging narcissism) of the artist. Kinkade does what he does and does it well, and it is not like anything I have to say will have any effect on that. Notions of art and treasures, are why we are all in this pursuit.

But dear god this thing is ridiculous.

Jim, although I agree with you. We have to respect eveyone's tastes. Because here is the Rub.
My dear mother Mrs. Katz and her friend Mrs. Ness (thier names have been have been last-erized to protect the innocent ) have been crusing the blog. Now both of these fine ladies have great sense of humor. Yet, both ladies have expressed to me desire for these objects.
