The historically referenced pot is a difficult thing to pull off. If not executed precisely the illusion is void. Mimicry is just like a magic show, as soon as you see that handkerchief up the sleeve, the show is done.
Al Farrow pulls off the trick pretty well. The materials and execution are pretty seamless. The combination of the pots, painting style and the details like the holes (study your Mimbre everyone).
