Sushi. Cheese. Petit Fours. Any small hors d'ouvres, unless they are roundish and roll around.
Sushi came to mind first, probably because of the flatness of the plate--and the head would make a great rest for chopsticks. Escargot came next, but that seems kinda mean. Like those tureens that are shaped to represent their contents.
I like the idea of a cinnamon bun--the spiral would represent the shell. Good one, Brian!
