When Ceramics becomes a crime, we all become criminals.

Man   Gets   Livestock   Citation   for   Ceramic   Chickens.

Code enforcers cited a metro Atlanta man for having livestock on his property, but quickly tore up the citation when they realized the only livestock chickens in the man’s front yard were ceramic.Robert Sosebee, of Austell, told Channel 2 Action News that when he came home Monday to his home on Clay Road, he found the citation taped to his front door.Sosebee believes that one of his neighbors might have seen his ceramic chickens on the front lawn and called the county, thinking that the chickens were real.“The code enforcement officers brought me a paper violation saying I had some chickens, but I didn’t," said Sosebee. The code enforcement officer said he was told that there were real chickens in the backyard.

Jello There

I am always willing to consider new materials for making ware. We all know that ceramics are best for food, cleanliness, durability, toxicity, and aesthetics all make ceramics vastly superior to all other materials.
Except, what if you want to eat your ware? tough question. I have looked at many a mug and have it stare back at me and say "Eat Me", but haven't we all?
Designers, The Way We See The World  have created Jelloware.

Jelloware re-imagines the concept of drinking, and imparts a new experience in the way it feels, tastes, smells, moves, and is even disposed of. The cups are made entirely out of agar agar and cast in different flavors, such as lemon-basil, ginger-mint, or rosemary-beet, each specifically designed to compliment a corresponding drink.  Jelloware is meant to be thrown into the grass after it is used, as agar agar is a seaweed extract and actually nurtures the growth of plants.

Tasty.

Living History

Pottery find leads to recreation of 9000-year-old beer

The label for 9000-year-old Jiahu beer.

.
An American brewery has recreated a 9000-year-old beer after analysing the insides of neolithic pottery found at a burial site in Henan province, in central China.
Chateau Jiahu, from the Dogfish Head Brewery in Del
Dr Patrick McGovern, a biomolecular archaeologist at the University of Pennsylvania, came across the pottery shards on a trip to China 10 years ago.
A mixed fermented wine of rice, honey and fruit was drunk in northern China more than a thousand years before the previously oldest-known fermented drinks, brewed in the Middle East.
In the past scientists relied on stylistic similarities of early pottery and bronze vessels to argue for the existence of a prehistoric fermented beverage in China.

Wine, Wine, Wine

On our vacation last week, we had one plan. Do nothing. To that end we were quite effective. We accomplished nothing and were quite happy about it. The problem was that we did partake in a few adult beverages through our slothful activities. The distribution of these beverages left me with a nasty case of carpal tunnel syndrome from all that pouring. If only there was a solution! Now there is, I present to you, the giant wine glass. This baby holds an entire bottle of wine, saving us from all the stress and strain of pouring a bottle more than once.
Thank God!

Tea Light

We have seen tea cup lights before but as we all know it is the little details that make things sing.
This tea cup light from Das rote Paket, has the best detail of them all.

I hope everyone had a good week last week.
We took our first vacation ever, and it was fabulous... we did nothing.
What I have always dreamed of.

Tiffin Time

If you are not familiar with Tiffins, they are these cool stacking dishes and carriers that come out of India. They are a great way to pack a lunch and function by keeping the parts of you meal separated. Mrs. Rose has a highly fashionable one, (even if it is made of plastic)

Traditionally they have been made of Metal and Plastic but here we have an example of a lovely clay and wood one. This model is called a Rantang and is from Indonesia and is made by Jenggalla.

Movable Type (of vase)

I'm always an advocate for pure functionality, but sometimes, even I give into whimsicality.

This vase is called Borderline and is by Adrien Roveros and is great for fashionable people with limited shelf space.
